DEENADAYAL EDUCATIONAL & CULTURAL CHARITABLE TRUST - ENGANDIYUR

Deenadayal Educational and Cultural Charitable Trust, an organization launched and formed in 1995 in the loving memory of Pandit Deenadayal Upadhyay, the legendary figure. The trust consists of 650 members and has flourished in Kerala for 29 consecutive years successfully, established and functioning in the coastal village of Engandiyur in Thrissur District, Kerala, amongst downtrodden backward class. . We found that the total upliftment of the society of this area in the fields of education, culture, arts etc is a sublime duty as part of our mission.

The aim of this trust is to propagate the ideas and doctrines of Pandit Deenadayalji. Our main objectives are:

Create awareness about Indian culture and tradition among all sections of mass in the operation area of the Trust, and arrange and conduct programmes forcing national integration.

Establish educational Institutions, libraries and research centres for development of Indian languages especially Malayalam, Sanskrit and to encourage education in mother tongue by starting such schools. The trust helps brilliant students belonging to poor families by providing scholarships, financial assistance and loans, and also to give awards to students for academic excellence.

To encourage fine arts such as literature, dance, music, paintings, sculpture, sports and games, and also to propagate them by conducting seminars, discussions and workshops.

To start old age homes for destitutes and poor and to start Balbhavans for orphans adopted and to protect them.

For upliftment of women, start women Industrial Centres, Handicraft Training Centres etc. and work to achieve equal status for women in line with men in the society.

To find out suitable employments for handicapped and providing necessary helps to attain self-sufficiency.

To develop artistic talents in children in early childhood, give them training in dance, music, instruments, drawing and establish such institutions.

To encourage and give advices to all those engaged in agriculture, animal husbandry and fishing. Special importance should be given for the protection of nature.

To produce goods locally and encourage their consumption.

To formulate projects for welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, to facilitate the governmental and other organisations assistance to reach them , and to bring them into the main stream.

To co-operate and work together with institutions engaged in national re- construction.

To encourage Indian Medical System along with Modern Medical System, and to provide necessary helps to sick and helpless.
